This dog grooming course is for anyone who wants to work in the dog grooming industry and work their way up.
This course incorporates working with a variety of breeds and coat types in an intimate group, enabling the experienced, highly qualified tutor to provide each candidate with time to build their confidence and skill set. If you are looking to start a career within the dog grooming industry, then this is qualification is aimed at you.
You will gain the practical skills and knowledge that are important for working as a Dog Grooming Assistant enabling you to work for a business or franchise, and it could be based in a salon or a mobile unit.
You could also progress to further learning and training in this area, to be a Dog Groomer and onto the Level 3 Dog Grooming course.
This is a City & Guilds accredited course.

Course Content
This qualification covers the skills you will need to progress to work as a Professional Dog Groomer. Mandatory content covers: - Health and safety, legislation and codes of practice for the dog grooming industry - Styling and finishing a dog - Health checking and handing a dog in a dog grooming environment - Customer service and record keeping in a dog grooming environment - You will be assessed by practical assessments, portfolio work and a final externally led examination. Achievement of this qualification demonstrates to an employer/the public that you have the necessary technical skills and knowledge they are looking for when recruiting/seeking the services of a Professional Dog Groomer. You will be assessed by practical assessments, portfolio work and a final externally led examination. This course runs 1 day per week on Monday OR Tuesday
Entry Requirements
Learners must have successfully completed the Level 2 Dog Grooming qualification and completed at least 50 hours work experience within a grooming salon. You must be 19+ and will need to complete an enrolment form and bring photo ID with you on your first session. We also ask that candidates continue working at a salon whilst completing the course, aiming to complete at least 100 hours in total. We highly recommend that you have access to a minimum of three dogs (aged six months or over) with suitable coat types throughout the course. All dogs will need proof of up-to-date vaccinations. Students should be prepared to attend all lessons.

The course is suitable for those who are looking to progress into employment or self employment within the Dog Grooming industry.
Fee Information
The fee for this course is £3,800. If you are aged 19 or over on the 31st of August, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan of £3,417. This loan helps you to pay the fees charged by approved colleges and training organisations in England. The loan may help towards the cost of the Level 3 Dog Grooming element of the course only - the remainder of the fee (£383), to be paid upon acceptance to the course, which will include exam fees, certification and administration, and must be paid by the learner.
