Level 2 Animal Care

Brooksby College is home to an extensive Animal Care Centre housing a wide rang of animals on-site here. From exotics to domestics, insects to farm and hoofed animals, students benefit from a wealth of hands-on experience, allowing for a truly well-rounded educational experience.

Students attend Crufts to visit Discover Dogs and observe health tests being completed. They also have the opportunity to enter competitions including Landex Student of the Year and complete dog grooming sessions and online courses for Donkey Sanctuary and Dogs Trust to supplement their course.

Wildlife and Rehabilitation

Caring for Exotics

Students undertake 150 hours of work placement in industry

4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English, Maths and Science OR progression from Level 1 with a Merit profile, English and Maths at a grade 3 or above and a suitable reference.

Students who complete Level 2 Animal Care with a grade of Merit or above may progress onto a higher level college course or an Apprenticeship.

Potential roles within the industry include: animal welfare assistant, veterinary nurse, dog trainer, dog groomer, kennel/cattery manager, educator, zoo keeper, animal rehabilitation assistant, animal welfare assistant, animal nutritionist, conservation officer and more.
